Bruins....wooooo!

Last night E and I went with her family to the Bruins v. Canadiens hockey game. SO MUCH FUN! Our seats were in the 2nd row behind the goal. So close to the action...AND close to all 7 goals scored by the Bruins! This was a particularly exciting game given the history between these two teams. In the last two matches things had gotten very physical. Only a couple fights last night.

Not sure why everything looks yellow..

Fight!

Goal celebration :)

Bruins win 7-0...Woooo!

A Weekend in DC

This semester has been overwhelmingly stressful. School and clinicals take up the majority of my time. As a result my commitment to being healthier has suffered a major setback. But I did take off a weekend to go to DC to visit one of my besties, N. N and I had an amazing weekend!

After the frustration of delayed flights, I had a very pleasant flight from Boston to DC. My seat neighbor was very friendly and we talked the whole trip about Boston, Seattle, DC, marathons, sports, and more. The rest of the weekend included AMAZING chai, great heart to heart conversations, a trip to Mount Vernon, a night of dancing, a stroll in the park (a little fresh air and sun, which I hadn't seen in awhile), pedicures, and a drag brunch!

While wasting a little time at the airport (yes, another delayed flight), N and I had one last heart to heart. N left me with a metaphor to get me through the next couple months. She described our weekend as a time for storing up "happy fat". Like a bear fills up on food before hibernating, we were storing up happy memories that would get us through the rough times over the next couple of months. We also made the commitment to check in on a weekly basis to share with each other one thing that we are looking forward to about the upcoming week.

Thanks N for an amazing weekend! I truly left DC in a much happier place (although I was sad to leave N).

Pinning Ceremony

The pinning ceremony has been a long standing tradition in the nursing profession. Newly graduated nurses are welcomed into the profession during this ceremony. While my classmates and I did not graduate after passing our NCLEX exams, we were welcomed into the nursing profession with a pinning ceremony. I asked my professor Donna to be my designated pinner. Donna has been an amazing support for the last year and I wanted to acknowledge her part in getting me through this program. Donna is also the lead in our trip to Haiti.
